Fellow Lions

The Lions year is about to come to a close, which is a good time to reflect on where we have come from and what we have achieved.

While more detail will be in my ‘change-over’ night report I know we have had a very good year with all members contributing as a team and helping to build the base. The old adage of a chain only being as strong as its weakest link is true and we have each played a part in ensuring there are no ‘weak links’ but a group all pulling together for the same purpose.

As most will have heard Lions lost a very strong and loyal member last week with the passing of Executive Officer PDG David Darwick. David was our executive officer until quite recently when ill health forced him to step down. A stickler for due process, his efforts and enthusiasm will be missed.

As we get to say goodbye to winter I see there are some warmer season projects in the planning and we can all look forward to getting behind the new team under President Elect Colin. The one thing about Lions; there is always plenty to get involved with, and long may it be.

Once again a big thank you to you all-members, partners and wives for helping Howick Lions have another successful year of serving our community, building our base and above all, having fun.

President Grant
