Howick Lions and Howick Volunteer Coastguard have announced a new lifesaving joint venture. They now have a defibrillator that is available 24/7 from the outside of the Coastguard Building at Howick Beach. This has been made available through the fund raising generosity of the Howick Lions Club.

The defibrillator is located in a lock box on the western side of the building. Access to open the lock box is gained by calling 111, Ambulance. The 111 operator will ask for the location of the box and the caller will be given a code to unlock the box, thus getting access to the defibrillator. At the same time a St John Ambulance unit will be dispatched to the location.

The defibrillator is a very user friendly model. The Howick Lions Club and Howick Volunteer Coastguard are very proud to have worked together in the provision of this new community asset.
