  • Enter the Lions International Art Contest for students ages 11, 12 or 13 on November 15 - create a Peace Poster and be in to win US$5000 and a trip to a special awards ceremony with two family members
  • Younger children (5-10 years old) can enter our colouring competition and be in to win some fabulous art materials.
  • Enter our raffle to win the international award winning cookbook 'Food as Medicine', or place an order to buy a copy - proceeds from the sale will go back into our local community
  • Enter our raffle to win a signed copy of 'Grey's Folly' by Alan La Roche
  • Place your orders for our famous Lions Christmas Cakes
  • Recycle your old spectacles and sunglasses - drop them off at our Open Day and Lions will clean and grade them before sending them off to aid people in the Pacific Islands
  • Recycle your old hearing aids - drop them off at our Open Day and we'll send them off to MEND who distribute them to Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Nepal, India and the Pacific Islands
  • Bring in your old money and foreign currency and Lions will redeem the obsolete cash for New Zealand dollars which is used to fund education programmes for young New Zealanders who would otherwise not get the opportunity

Art Contest for Students Aged 11, 12 or 13

Each year, Lions clubs around the world proudly sponsor the Lions International Peace Poster Contest in local schools and youth groups.

One international grand prize winner will receive US$5,000 and a trip to a special award ceremony with their sponsoring Lions Club president and two family members at Lions Day with the United Nations (subject to change). Each of the 23 international merit award winners will receive a cash award of US$500 and a certificate of achievement.

Eligibility

This art contest for encourages young people worldwide to express their visions of peace. Students, ages 11, 12 or 13 on November 15, are eligible to participate.

If you would like to enter, come along to our Open Day and we'll provide you with the details of this year's theme of "The Future of Peace", the rules and deadlines.

This book is the result of years of research and over 300 hundred interviews and is a social, economic and political history written for all residents, or anyone interested in this particularly historically attractive region of Auckland.

Recycle old Spectacles, Sunglasses and Hearing Aids

Drop off your old spectacles, sunglasses and hearing aids at our Open Day.

Your glasses will be sent to Papakura Lions Club who sort them, check for cracks, scratches, then tighten the screws before they're washed in an ultrasonic washer and dried. They then have their prescription recorded and are packed for delivery.

Type 2 Diabetes is common in the Pacific Islands and is the main cause of blindness. Lions Clubs in the Islands receive the glasses and distribute them to visiting volunteer optometrists who test patients and fit them with the recycled glasses at no cost.

Sunglasses are also a useable item for the Islands particularly after cataract operations.

Your old hearing aids will be sent to MEND in Kerikeri, who distribute them to Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Nepal, India and the Pacific Islands. MEND's hearing practitioners test, reprogramme and fit the hearing aids to suit their patients needs.


Bring in Your Old Money and Foreign Currency

Bring your old money and foreign currency to our Open Day and Lions will redeem the obsolete cash for New Zealand dollars which is used to fund education programmes for young New Zealanders who would otherwise not get the opportunity.

To date Lions have collected over 20 tonnes of coins and thousands of banknotes bringing the total raised close to $500,000.
